Letter to the Secretary-General on proposed changes in travel standards | Lettre aux Secrétaire-général sur la modification proposée des conditions de voyage

As we highlighted back in October, management has been working on proposals to reduce our conditions for official travel. At a townhall, you informed us that you had reservations about the proposals. We conveyed this message to management and requested that all proposals be subject to consultation with staff representatives as required by the organization's rules, in order to ensure that all viable options are examined.

However, two weeks ago, the Secretary-General submitted the same proposals to the General Assembly without consulting or informing staff. To this end, the staff unions of the United Nations have sent him a letter expressing their dismay that consultation procedures were not followed and requesting that the proposals be withdrawn and submitted to the Staff-Management Committee (SMC).

You can read the letter here. If you have any comments, please let the Council know.
