Friday night is the staff party, time once again to let your hair down and do things you may regret the next day – see the photos from last year.
Headlining the party this year is the well-known 70s, 80s disco, funk and soul cover band, Time Machine, who we guarantee will get you on your toes. Also on stage will be a neo-soul band Djoog, to get the party going, and latin and house DJs to keep you dancing until 2.30 a.m.
Back after last year’s success is the karaoke lounge with an expanded selection of French and English hits from the 60s to today; impress your colleagues with talents you didn’t know you had.
There will be free welcome drinks, so come early. To make sure you don’t go hungry, DSR will sell hot and cold dishes throughout the evening, for yourself or to share with friends, with free onion soup at midnight. Make an effort, dress to impress. Anyone with a UN or ITC badge (staff, consultant, intern, courtesy) is welcome, along with one guest. However, UNOG Security will not allow staff or guests to enter the Palais after 11 p.m.
Behaving responsibly
The staff party is intended as a fun-filled event and we certainly hope you enjoy it. However, enjoyment by all depends on everyone behaving in a safe and responsible manner. Security have asked us to inform you of the following:
- No alcohol or food may be brought in from outside. There will be checks on entering the Palais.
- Security will systematically breathalyze drivers leaving the party. If you’re over the limit there is no penalty but you will be asked to leave your car inside the Palais and order a taxi. This will be done in cooperation with the local authorities, who may well carry out their own checks outside the Palais perimeter.
- We are aware that the staff party is a great place to meet new colleagues. However, in order to ensure that the building is empty once the party is over, Security will be touring offices, conference rooms and basements. In the past this has led to a number of embarrassing incidents.
