The 8.2 earthquake, the most powerful in a century, that struck off the South of Mexico has severely damaged thousands of buildings, including homes, schools, government offices and hospitals.Thousands of already vulnerable families have been left homeless and are in urgent need of assistance.
As a show of solidarity, the Mexican colleagues in UNOG decided to organize, in collaboration with the UNOG Staff Coordinating Council, a collection for the benefit of victims. The funds raised will be transferred to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The collection will take place on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 September 2017, at the following times and locations:
- Doors 2, 6, 40: 8.30 to 10.00 a.m.
- Main cafeteria (entrance) and Serpent Bar: 12 noon to 2 p.m.
- Palais Wilson (main entrance): 12 noon to 2 p.m.
- Motta (main entrance): 8.30 to 10 a.m. & 12 noon to 2 p.m.
- International Trade Centre (cafeteria): 12 noon to 2 p.m.
Collection tins will also be available at the entrance to SAFI on 20 September, from 12.30 to 6.30 p.m.
